Pope Pius VII imprisoned in Savona. Guided tour of the sites and apartment of the Pope
January 31 @ 3:00 pm - 17:00
20€
Pope Pius VII imprisoned in Savona.
During the Napoleonic era, Savona was the scene of a national and international historical, political and religious event: the imprisonment of Pope Pius VII in the Bishop's Palace. A walk down the characteristic Via Pia, named after the pope, will provide an exterior view of the Sansoni Palace, which was his first residence. You will be able to see where the pope could bless all the pilgrims who came to the city, where he could attend masses since he did not have the right to go down to the cathedral, and you will visit the apartments in the Bishop's Palace, which were his prison from 1809 to 1812.
Paid guided tour €20 including entrance to the Pope's apartments in the Bishop's Palace.
Meeting at 3 p.m. Piazza Sixtus IV in Savona
