To reach Triora, we have to go all the way up the Argentina valley passing through villages of absolute charm such as Badalucco ed il paese dei ventitré molini, Molini di Triora.
Upon reaching Triora, the village seems suspended in time. Isolated on a rocky outcrop, Triora was once fiefdom of the Counts of Ventimiglia, and later became an impregnable stronghold of the Republic of Genoa, a difesa dei confini liguri. Quale scenario più suggestivo dei suoi tortuosi e bui carruggi poteva ospitare la drammatica realtà della witch hunt? La scia di terrore che colpì il borgo nel 1587 fu probabilmente scatenata da una carestia, amplificata da fenomeni di allucinazione collettiva causati da cibo contaminato. Nei dintorni di Triora si trova un inquietante casolare, noto come la booth, a place where, according to legend, witches gathered to celebrate their Sabbaths and perform evil spells.

Continuing the visit, one can admire the medieval walls of Triora, which surround the historic center and bear witness to centuries of history. The antique doors and the towers are still visible, and as you stroll through the village, you will be captivated by the beauty of its stone houses and its alleys, which tell the story of Triora's daily life in past centuries. The cobbled squares, i stone portals and the small stores selling typical local products, such as the bread and cheese, make Triora an authentic and atmospheric place. You can also see the ruins of Triora Castle, which date back to the 13th century. Although the structure is not fully preserved, the castle ruins offer a fascinating insight into how the village was protected in the past. From here, you can also enjoy a unique panoramic view of the valley and surrounding mountains, a great place to take memorable photographs.
