URBAN TREKKING: UP AND DOWN GENOA

The ideal trek for those who love to visit the city on foot, delve into its alleys, admire it from above, discover its secrets and hidden corners. From the bottom to the top, from top to bottom we will discover Genoa. The route mixes urban walking and the use of elevators and funicular railways leading to the most striking viewpoints. Among the many wonders of the Superb, we will reach by historic funicular railway St. Anne's Square, a quiet corner nestled in the city, where time seems to stand still. In addition to the church of St. Anne, which houses valuable works of art inside, is worth a visit to the’Ancient St. Anne's Herbal Pharmacy of the Discalced Carmelite Friars, built in the 1600s. The first potatoes from the New World were planted in the convent's gardens, and even today there are many curiosities hidden within these walls. In the Old Pharmacy, among the many products, you can still buy the ‘Scrivia Valley Rose Syrup”, l’red gold” with countless beneficial properties. From here we descend to Castelletto to reach the city's most beautiful vantage point and admire from above the Great Genoa  with its 30-kilometer length and houses built amphitheatrically on the sea. Behind us the mountains huddle in a crown around the city's harbor. We head back down, traversing steep creuze, to visit Europe's largest medieval center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For lunch, you cannot miss a taste of focaccia, meatloaf or green cake in the historic center.

Shoes suitable for walking many miles and with good grip for paved descents and stairs.
Clothing: layered technical, windproof, rainproof, bandana.
In the backpack: small first aid, usual medicines, sunscreen, water at least 1 liter,snacks.
The Guide may decide not to allow those who do not have the proper shoes or those who are deemed unfit to participate in the trek.
