Deiva State Forest
Un’escursione affascinante nel cuore della Deiva State Forest, a protected area included in the Beigua Regional Nature Park and recognized as Special Area of Conservation (SAC) per l’elevato valore naturalistico e biodiversità.
The route winds its way through fir, chestnut, beech and oak trees, offrendo un’immersione totale nella natura dell’entroterra ligure, tra aria pura, silenzi e panorami suggestivi. Dopo pochi minuti di cammino è possibile effettuare una sosta al Ressia Refuge, before continuing to the picturesque Lake of the Gulli, ideal for a picnic lunch break during warm weather.
L’itinerario continua in direzione del historical center of Sassello, passing by the remains of the castle of Bastia Sottana and from the Cappella di Sant’Antonio Abate (1450), valuable historical evidence of the area.
Nel borgo è prevista la visita al Perrando Museum Pole, at the Basilica dell’Immacolata Concezione and to the Chiesa della Santissima Trinità, with a pleasant stop in the local craft workshops to discover the tradition of the soft macaroons of Sassello and listen to the tales of local mushroom growers.
From the center we then move to the Sassello Mill, where flours are still ground today. water and stone in an old mill dating back to the 1830.
Next to the mill is the Liguria's first and only distillery, famous for its Moonshine 100% corn, winner of tre medaglie d’oro at World Whiskies Awards 2023, 2024 and 2025. The May 17, 2026 verrà aperta la prima botte del loro whisky, che sarà The world's first whisky produced at 100% from spelt.
Presso il mulino sarà possibile partecipare a una Full guided tour of the mill and distillery, with final tasting (duration about 1 hour).
Return to the starting point in only a 5-minute walk.

Trekking all’interno del Beigua Regional Nature Park. La Foresta della Deiva è un’area ZSC (Special Area of Conservation).
Mixed terrain, hiking trail.
Clothing layered technician, sticks for regular users, and water to drink.
Shoes Comfortable for walking on uneven and gravelly ground. Hiking shoes recommended.
Backpack: small first aid, usual medicines, sunscreen, water at least 1 liter, snacks and possible packed lunch.
