SASSELLO: Deiva State Forest in Beigua Park.

A fascinating excursion into the heart of the Deiva State Forest, a protected area included in the Beigua Regional Nature Park and recognized as Special Area of Conservation (SAC) For its high naturalistic value and biodiversity.

The route winds its way through fir, chestnut, beech and oak trees, offering a total immersion in the nature of the Ligurian hinterland, including pure air, silences and striking views. After a few minutes of walking it is possible to make a stop at the Ressia Refuge, before continuing to the picturesque Lake of the Gulli, ideal for a picnic lunch break during warm weather.

The itinerary continues in the direction of the historical center of Sassello, passing by the remains of the castle of Bastia Sottana and from the Chapel of St. Anthony Abbot (1450), valuable historical evidence of the area.

In the village, a visit to the Perrando Museum Pole, at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and to the Holy Trinity Church, with a pleasant stop in the local craft workshops to discover the tradition of the soft macaroons of Sassello and listen to the tales of local mushroom growers.

From the center we then move to the Sassello Mill, where flours are still ground today. water and stone in an old mill dating back to the 1830.

Next to the mill is the Liguria's first and only distillery, famous for its Moonshine 100% corn, winner of three gold medals at World Whiskies Awards 2023, 2024 and 2025.
