❔ Have you figured out what species these fish belong to? It is the Occhiata (Oblada melanurus)!

🌍 A small fish, it is characterized by its silver color with a typical black spot at the base of the caudal fin

👀 This is one of the quintessential species among the waters of the Bergeggi Island Marine Protected Area, and it is also one of the easiest to see during snorkeling trips

🌊 It can be found either in groups of a few, or grouped into hundreds of individuals, even mixing with fish of other species and finding shelter and nourishment among the leaves of Posidonia oceanica

🤿 But not only that! This species can also be observed as early as a few cm deep, and it is not uncommon to see it during sea bathing along the Ligurian coast!

🤔 Fun fact: Do you know where the name “look” comes from? It is because of the large size of the eyes by which this species is characterized, which can occupy up to half of the entire head!
