SALT WAYS. 3-day trek: From the Alps to the Sea - from Scagnello (Cn) to Finalborgo (Sv)

The approximately 60-km-long route runs from Scagnello (CN), in the heart of the Mongia Valley, to Finale Ligure (SV), through the most beautiful forests of Piedmont and Liguria, arriving at one of Finale's most interesting places.
Dedicated to all those who like to immerse themselves in another dimension, made up of remote places and times.
Time will be marked only by our footsteps.

Day One
Scagnello - Calizzano through ancient paths connecting Liguria and Piedmont. Approx. 25 km, height difference 900 m uphill, 900 m downhill.
Meeting at La Botalla farmhouse in Scagnello (Ceva). Briefing and acquaintance of the group.
Delivery of luggage that will be transported to the hotel in Calizzano.
We begin our walking adventure along the Mongia Valley, passing through the villages of Scagnello and Battifollo. We reach Bagnasco in the Tanaro Valley and at Massimino we enter Liguria. Here the climb to the Giovetti pass awaits us. Our goal is to reach Calizzano (SV) in the late afternoon. Accommodation in the area. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Calizzano - Rialto. 20 km approx. Height difference 550 m uphill, 600 m downhill.
Early breakfast and departure. Today we will cross the most beautiful forests of Liguria and enter the magnificent Barbottina beech forest. Arriving at the Melogno pass, we will begin to breathe in the sea air and descend to Rialto (SV) via the Feudi Carretteschi route. Accommodation in the area. Dinner and overnight stay.
Day Three
Rialto -Finalborgo. 10 km Height difference 200 m uphill, 250 m downhill

Breakfast and departure. Today's day will be less demanding in terms of miles to be covered, but it will be full of pleasant visits. We will start by discovering the beautiful town of Calice, then descend to Perti and discover some of the most intense corners of Finale's history. Our journey will end in Finalborgo, the ancient capital of the Del Carretto Marquisate.

Return: possibility to return by train from Finale Ligure station. Those who have to return to La Botalla can take the train to Ceva and then from there private transfer that will have to be booked directly at La Botalla on the day of departure of the trek.

What to bring: Luggage will be transported from one facility to another; therefore, a light backpack with the bare minimum is recommended during the walk, which should include: small first aid kit with basic medicines (especially remember the usual ones, if you take them), water bottle (at least 1 liter), fleece, rain jacket (alternatively cape), hat or bandana, sunscreen. On the route from Calizzano to the Melogno Pass we will exceed 1,000 meters in elevation and it may be cooler than usual in the woods. Hiking poles are recommended but not essential. Comfortable hiking boots, possibly not new.

The Guide may decide not to allow those who do not have the proper shoes or those who are deemed unfit to participate in the trek.
