Trekking on the roads of the Romans

We begin our walk with an interesting stroll through the history-laden alleys of Ventimiglia Alta, an unjustly still little-known village in a panoramic position above the promontory. At the end we begin our walk along the ancient Roman road to reach the spectacular Porta Canarda. From here we follow a beautiful scenic path over the Latte coastline passing among ancient villas a stone's throw from the sea. After walking a short stretch of asphalt road, you will take the ancient road again, passing through the Hanbury Botanical Gardens, and then climb back up to the state road and from here, after another stretch along the Aurelia, you will descend to the beach to walk along a beautiful path overlooking the sea. You will then reach the Balzi Rossi from the impressive cliffs, with the famous “egg beach.” We are now at the border with France and the next stop will be in Menton, where we will walk along the beautiful promenade.

Highlights of our trek:
- a completely sea-view itinerary on the border between Liguria and the French Riviera, where it is always spring.
- walk through Ventimiglia Alta, a little-known village in western Liguria, but one that hides unexpected beauty
- visit to Menton and free time to walk around the old town or enjoy the sea.

Length: 12 km
Elevation gain: 200 meters total elevation gain (given mainly by the climb to Upper Ventimiglia and the ups and downs along the way).

Difficulty: E hiking.
Level: Medium. Safe pace required. Difficulty is not in the course, but in the length.
Suitable for anyone who is used to walking trails with a fair amount of elevation gain and is in normal mental and physical condition

Other details:
Panoramic: sea view
Fund: mixed. Mixed trail: road, beach, mule track. Stairs along the route.
Shoes: trekking or sneakers but with a sculpted sole suitable for walking on gravelly trails.
Clothing: layered technical, windproof, rainproof, bandana.
In your backpack: small first aid kit, usual medicines, sunscreen, water at least 1 liter, snacks and possible packed lunch.

The Guide may decide not to allow those who do not have the proper shoes or those who are deemed unfit to participate in the trek.

Participation fee: 65€
fee includes: bus transfer to and from places of departure (Savona, Pietra Ligure, Albenga, Imperia), insurance, licensed and AIGAE registered hiking and environmental guide, agency escort.
